The winding road treats you to spectacular sights of cascading waterfalls like Cheeyappara and Valara, lush spice plantations, and mist‑covered valleys. En route, you may stop at a spice garden to discover Kerala’s aromatic treasures.

Upon reaching Munnar, check into your hotel and unwind amidst the cool mountain air. The evening is free to stroll through the tea‑scented lanes, visit the local market, or simply relax and enjoy the panoramic views of endless tea gardens.

Day 02: Munnar Full‑Day Sightseeing

After an early breakfast, set out to explore Munnar’s most celebrated attractions. Your first stop is the Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. A short bus ride inside the park takes you to a viewpoint where you can often spot these sure‑footed mountain goats amidst the rolling grasslands. (Note: the park remains closed during the calving season, usually February‑March; alternative sightseeing will be arranged.)

Next, drive to Mattupetty Dam, a tranquil reservoir surrounded by green hills and forests – perfect for a boat ride or just soaking in the scenery. Continue to Echo Point, where your voice bounces off the hills, and then to Kundala Lake, where you can enjoy a shikara ride or simply admire the blooming cherry blossoms (seasonal).

In the afternoon, visit the Tea Museum (closed on Mondays) to learn about Munnar’s tea heritage and sample freshly brewed local tea. End the day with a stroll at the Blossom International Park or a photo stop at the panoramic Pothamedu View Point before returning to your hotel.

Day 03: Munnar – Thekkady (Approx. 100 km / 3–4 hrs)

After breakfast, drive towards Thekkady, the heart of Kerala’s spice country. The route descends through tea and cardamom plantations, offering ample photo opportunities. On arrival, check into your hotel and freshen up.

Later, visit a local spice plantation where you can see and smell cardamom, pepper, vanilla, cinnamon, and cloves being grown and processed. The rest of the day is at leisure. In the evening, you can optionally attend a Kathakali dance performance or the thrilling Kalaripayattu martial arts show (tickets available locally).

Nature enthusiasts may also pre‑book a boat ride on Periyar Lake inside the wildlife sanctuary to spot elephants, deer, and a variety of birds (subject to availability, operates at fixed timings).

Sightseeing: Spice Plantation tour, optional Periyar boat ride & cultural shows.

Overnight stay at Thekkady.

Day 04: Thekkady – Alleppey (Houseboat) (Approx. 150 km / 4–5 hrs)

Today, leave the hills behind and travel to Alleppey, the "Venice of the East". Board your private deluxe houseboat around noon. As the boat glides along the palm‑fringed backwaters, you’ll witness a way of life untouched by time: villagers washing clothes on the banks, children playing in the water, and fishermen casting their nets.

A freshly prepared Kerala‑style lunch is served on board. The cruise continues through narrow canals and vast lagoons until sunset, when the boat anchors in a calm waterway. Evening tea with snacks is provided as you watch the sky turn gold and crimson. Dinner is cooked on board using local ingredients. Fall asleep to the gentle lapping of water.

Note: A/C in the houseboat operates from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The cruise covers approximately 5‑6 hours of navigation spread over the day and the following morning.

Overnight stay on the houseboat.

Day 05: Alleppey – Kovalam (Approx. 160 km / 4–5 hrs)

Wake up to a serene sunrise over the backwaters. After a light breakfast on board, the boat sails back to the Alleppey jetty. Disembark and begin your journey to Kovalam, a world‑renowned beach destination.

The drive takes you through coastal Kerala, past lagoons, coconut groves, and quiet villages. Upon reaching Kovalam, check in to your beach resort. The rest of the day is yours to relax on the golden sands of Lighthouse Beach, take a dip in the Arabian Sea, or enjoy the bustling beach‑shack culture. Watch a mesmerising sunset before retiring for the night.

This day is designed for pure relaxation and exploration at your own pace. The morning can start with an optional Ayurvedic rejuvenation massage – an experience Kerala is famous for. You may also visit the nearby Vizhinjam Marine Aquarium or the historic Vizhinjam Juma Masjid.

For the more active, water sports such as surfing, catamaran rides, and parasailing are available at the beach. Alternatively, you can take a short excursion to the Padmanabhaswamy Temple and other landmarks in Trivandrum city (approximately 30‑minute drive). The afternoon is free to enjoy the sun and sand. In the evening, savour fresh seafood at a cliff‑top restaurant overlooking the Arabian Sea.
